Our Story

From the rapids to recovery—finding clarity through connection

The Whitewater Journey

Seven years ago, I was gifted a beautiful life rooted in service through sobriety. Through recovery, I learned that a higher power could be anything—as long as it was bigger than me—and that no one could judge my higher power, just as I couldn't judge anyone else's.

During a particularly painful time in my recovery, I discovered whitewater kayaking. On the river, in my kayak, everything clicked. I connected spiritual ideals with the flow of the water—going with the current rather than fighting against it. I found a deep, personal relationship with my higher power through the power and rhythm of the river.

This relationship changed my life. I became more active, found community outside recovery circles, and deepened my understanding of the world and my role in it.

About Whitewater Sober Living

"The river became a profound metaphor: there's a flow to life, and I can choose to go with it or against it. Going with the flow—following my higher power's will—is far easier than resisting."

Navigating rapids is like sobriety itself: look ahead, never do it alone, choose your line, and take action. Even when it gets rough, if you stay with the flow, you make it to the other side.

I want to share this understanding with others starting their journey in recovery. Whitewater Sober Living was born from this desire—to create a space where men in early recovery can find stability, community, and the tools to navigate life's rapids with confidence and support.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a network of small, home-style recovery houses across the Treasure Valley that offer peace, accountability, and a sense of belonging—like calm water after the rapids.

We believe in helping people find stability, independence, and healing through the journey of sobriety. One home at a time, one resident at a time, we're creating a foundation for lasting transformation.
